A ROTTING FEMALE HORSE
This time I won't dwell on it. I have no new rules to
consider.
1 - I'll draw a completely random game from history on the mobygames.com site.
2 - If I can find a playable copy on a platform I own, I'll play it. Otherwise, I'll draw a new game.
3 - If I can't download the game, I'll order a physical copy, if I can find
one. If not, I'll draw a new game.
4 - If the game is part of a continuous series, I might opt to play an earlier
entry of the same series for continuity's sake. I'll judge this on a
case-by-case basis.
With that out of the way, let's get going... *drumroll*
FIRST DRAW
Decay: The Mare - Episode 2 for the Windows Phone!
Sweet! Never heard of it, but I can get behind playing an adventure game any time, and a horror one at
that... So, sign me up. Released in 2017, this one should be easy enough to track
down as well. But I have a couple of caveats.
First off, I don't have a Windows Phone, so I'll have to settle with another
version. Second, I'll need to play Decay: The Mare - Episode 1 first to get
the story in order. Or how about this: Why don't I purchase the
Decay: The Mare (published by Daedalic Entertainment) collection
for Windows and get the full experience, plus a previously unreleased third
episode?
Even better - it's currently for sale on Steam at a measly 0,83 Euros. At that price I say
it's a steal. Well, that settles it.
I hereby declare RANDOM GAME # 3 to be Decay: The Mare for
Windows.
Let's read the description:
"Decay: The Mare is a point-and-click adventure game mixed with psychological horror. The player controls Sam, a drug addict who ends up in an institution called Resting Dreams. He aims to sort out his life, but during his fight night there something horrible goes wrong and he gets stuck in an endless nightmare. The game world consists of static pre-rendered scenes. There are many puzzles to solve often based on collecting and using items."
I'm expecting a game like Myst (which I haven't played) in a horror setting, with loads of inventory puzzles. Hopefully the
solutions aren't so obscure that it becomes unwinnable without a guide. My expectations are tempered however. I'm not convinced it's going to be particularly scary. The trailer
doesn't exactly rock my boat, but here's to hoping.
